Sanjay-san is a song dedicated to the memory of friend and inspiration Sanjay Patel. Instrumental in Martin’s musical development, he was an evangelist for Acid house in the hazy late 80s. Right from the off, the rhythm is the driver – insistent and irresistible. The bass, when it comes, gives shape to this energy, moulding it into the perfect platform, from which Lefteri launches metallic shards of melody, undulating acid lines and celebratory bursts of synth that tie everything together.

A remix of spooky action sees martin hand over the baton to Aggelos Baltas, better known as Anatolian Weapons (Beats in Space, Dark Entries). Busy, fizzing synths lead the way and set the pace while a whip-crack snare holds the line with rigorous restraint. Before long, the bassline’s gentle peaks give way to heavily top-ended acid tweaks and we’re in the centre of somewhere completely new.
